The British Government on Monday sent an urgent message to Kenya following the murder of its citizen in Laikipia County, where there have been fierce attacks.

A UK billionaire identified as Tristan Voorspuy was on Saturday shot dead by invaders at his Sosian Ranch, where he had gone to assess a damage caused in a previous invasion.

In a statement, British High Commissioner to Kenya Nic Hailey urged the Kenyan Government to beef up security in the volatile area.

"I continue to urge the Kenyan authorities to take all necessary steps urgently to restore law and order, and to protect life and property in the area," the Ambassador said.

Mr Hailey expressed his sorrow over the murder of the former British soldier, noting: "I was deeply saddened by the murder of Mr Tristan Voorspuy. The British High Commission is in touch with his family to provide support at this difficult time".

He reiterated that Kenya ought to heed to the numerous pleas he has been making over the security of the area.

"I have repeatedly conveyed to the Kenyan authorities the United Kingdom’s deep concern at the situation in parts of Laikipia. I have done so again following Mr Voorspuy’s murder,” Hailey mentioned.

Mr Voorspuy who co-owns the private ranch had just jetted into Kenya from Tanzania to survey his property before he was murdered.
