Chief Justice Willy Mutunga has uncovered an operation by traffic officers and unnamed brokers where they set up fake courts for traffic offenders.
In an impromptu visit to the traffic registry today, Mutunga said that corrupt cops had set up 'Kangaroo' courts where they take bribes from traffic offenders.
He noted that majority of those who actually end up in court for their offenses are those that refuse to give out bribes.
He condemned the fact that most of the offenders who refused to bribe the officers end up being kept in court for long.
This comes even Kenyans continue to condemn the corrupt nature of some traffic cops.
A recent accident allegedly caused by city pastor James Ngang'a was viewed by many as an example of the corruption that has marred the police force.

Evidence shows that traffic officers played a part in the cover up of the accident that killed one person, leaving another seriously injured.

Some accidents on the road have also been blamed on corruption by the officers.
Reports indicate that because some traffic cops looked the other way after being bribed, some road unworthy cars remained on the road eventually getting into and causing accidents.
In some cases, over speeding drivers have also caused accidents after traffic officers let them go.
