Video: County Workers Spotted Uprooting 'Kidero Flowers'

A video showing Nairobi county workers uprooting flower seedlings, planted a week ago, has sparked an online buzz.

The flowers and grass were planted as part of a city beautification programme ahead of US President Barack Obama grand visit to the country.

The captured scenes, along chiromo road, revived the #KideroGrass conversation with Kenyans on twitter protesting the move.

Following the raging public outrage, Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero immediately took to Facebook seeking to clarify what was happening.

The county government earlier in the week sought to clarify that the beautification process was a longterm initiative by the county government, and not only meant for the US President's visit.

The project reportedly cost Sh185 million.
