VIDEO: Jimmy Kibaki Tribute to Mama Lucy Sparks Laughter at Mass

Jimmy Kibaki, the eldest son of former President Mwai Kibaki, on Saturday delivered a captivating tribute to his mother, which brought a slight comic relief at the final mass for Mama Lucy Kibaki.

He narrated how together with his three siblings grew up under the strict family values impacted by the former First Lady.

At one point, Jimmy recollected how he once came home and reported to his mother that he was being punished every Friday while at St Marys School, Nairobi.

The congregation broke into laughter when he mentioned that a particular Irish priest was always on his case, adding that he was aware that President Uhuru Kenyatta had also suffered in the hands of the same cleric.

"I think His Exellency the President knows the Priest I am talking about because I am told he was also very familiar with his cane," Jimmy diverted, cracking the ribs of the President, a reaction which indicated that Kenyatta vividly recalled the past ordeals while studying at the same school.

Jimmy was describing how Mama Lucy held discipline in high regard, and whom upon listening to his complaint, told him to his face that she could do nothing about it because he was a naughty boy.

The former First lady was laid to rest in a private ceremony held at the Family home in Othaya, where President Kenyatta, his deputy William Ruto and former Head of State of Tanzania Jakaya Kikwete among other guests were in attendance.
