Former Cabinet Secretary (CS) Anne Waiguru has written to the Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet claiming that her life is in danger.
In the letter reportedly received by the IG's office on February 29, Waiguru cited that she feared personal attacks on her, after receiving threats from politicians following her explosive affidavit linking powerful individuals to National Youth Service (NYS) scandal.
“Knowing Kenya's political climate and the influence that these politicians command, I am naturally fearful for my life,” the letter read in part.
She allegedly expressed her worries that those who had masterminded to directly name her as the main perpetrator of the saga, would interfere with investigations meant to clear her from the money loss.
The former CS revisited a statement by Majority Leader in the National Assembly Aden Duale, who said that he would take a sabbatical leave to go after her and that she had stepped on a live wire by dragging him into the scandal.
The former Devolution Minister revealed her fear in the threat, asking Boinnet to provide enough security to prevent any attack on her.
“I feel that unless I am issued with appropriate security arrangements, I stand a risk of being physically harmed. I am therefore requesting your office to issue me with appropriate security to forestall any possible attacks on me,” requested the letter.
Ms Waiguru got in trouble after she released an affidavit implicating Duale and Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen in the Sh791 Million NYS saga.

The affidavit brewed tension in the ruling coalition, with TNA affiliated members asking their counterparts mentioned by Ms Waiguru to exonerate themselves individually without dragging the coalition into the scandal.
