The number of married women from Western Kenya who are being lured to work in the Arab countries is on the rise.
It has been reported that the women are leaving their husbands and children without notice to go to the Arabian world.
Several families in Butere and Khwisero Sub-Counties reached out to the County Government for assistance, and insisted that the women provide for their children instead of leaving them under the care of a single parent.
The County Government through the Children's Office in the two Sub-Counties, assured the families that they would investigate the matter by looking for the wives' places of residence, most of them reported to be living in Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Dubai.
As the women continue to flee to the countries in Asia to become domestic workers, cases of mistreatment and even deaths caused by employers have increased in the recent past, prompting the government to ban agencies duping women into the business.
