Hours after the Kenya Universities and Colleges Placement Service (KUCCPS) announced the release of the 2025 results, several students have decried not receiving any.
Responding to KUCCPS' announcement on X, several Kenyans claimed that the portal had yet to update its placement messages to them.
A spot check by Kenyans.co.ke also revealed that the same placement notification that was sent since the placement was made weeks ago remains to date.
"You have secured a provisional placement in one of the courses you selected. Details of the course and the university where you have been placed will be communicated at a later date. Please do not attempt to apply again," the message reads.
Responding to the social media uproar, KUCCPS further claimed that the applicants had also been sent SMS messages about their placements, although some who spoke to Kenyans.co.ke still claim they have not received these either.
At the time of publishing this article, KUCCPS has yet to disburse the placement results to several students.
This comes hours after Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba released the results, which revealed that 201,695 of the 244,563 candidates who qualified for degree programs applied for placement to various levels.
Of these, KUCCPS has so far placed 310,502 students in various programmes in both universities and colleges, with the majority of applicants consisting of the 2024 KCSE students.
At the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC), Ogamba announced that 52,725 candidates applied for placement against a capacity of 34,048.
Over 27,000 of these applications were for a nursing course at the institution, which attracted both diploma and certificate medical courses.
Another course that received a huge number of applicants overall was the Diploma in Teaching, which saw 20,786 applications.
Unfortunately, this is unlike any other instance when Kenyan students have tried to access national examination results or a nationwide service.
Months ago, when the 2024 KCSE results were released, the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) site crashed from the large number of students trying to access it, leaving several candidates to wait hours for their results.
