Windows CEO in Nairobi for Windows 10 Launch

Kenya was among 190 countries that launched the latest version of the Windows operating system yesterday.

The company’s CEO Satya Nadella flew into the country for the launch in Nairobi.

He told K24 that they chose Kenya as one of the countries for the launch because it's well placed for ICT development in Africa and the world.

The global release allows for a free download by users running on the latest versions of Windows 7 and 8.1.

According to Business Daily, the free upgrade is part of the strategy being employed by Microsoft to get users to move to the new, cloud-based system.

Fans of the new version took to twitter worldwide to rave about it.

Some praised the new modern and fresh look of the icons, colors, backgrounds and lock screens.

Among the biggest hit with the new version was the search feature that has been turned into a personalized guide to users PC named, Cortana.

It responds to voice commands and helps users find apps and useful information about their PC among other things.

Windows 10 is compatible with all devices be it tablets, computers or even phones.

It will be free for one year, after which users will have to purchase it.
