Former Vice President and Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has disclosed that powerful forces within the government are out to frustrate him after being announced the running mate for the National Super Alliance (NASA) flag bearer.
This comes a day after the NGO Coordination Board froze the accounts of Kalonzo Musyoka Foundation and suspended its operations over accusations of misappropriating Sh146 Million.
According to the Wiper leader, some powerful people who he knew had given an order for the freezing of the accounts and were even planning to prosecute him over money laundering.
On Wednesday, he stated that the allegations were malicious and aimed at besmirching his character by linking him to misuse of funds meant for the disadvantaged in his Ukambani backyard where he enjoys massive support.
The Wiper chief also asserted that the Board's move was illegal since it did not have any court order to freeze the accounts and suspend the operations of the Foundation.
Musyoka stated that he would use legal channels to challenge the move by the NGO Board, daring the authorities to arrest him over the matter.
He further maintained that the operations of the Organisation are legal adding that the funds in question are used to educate Kenyans from disadvantaged backgrounds.
The NASA principal presented a letter from the Board to confirm that the Foundation had complied with all regulations.
When suspending operations of the Musyoka Foundation, the NGO body claimed that an account linked to the Organisation was operating against the provisions of the constitution, allegations which he denied.
Musyoka's family is at the center of the scandal with his wife Pauline who serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the foundation and son Kennedy who is the Secretary.
