Woman Confused Over Which MCA Stole Sh70,000

A Nairobi woman who claims a Member of County Assembly stole Sh70,000 from her, says that she can only identify the thief by appearance.

The woman, only identified as Judy, visited Lang'ata police station on Saturday and recorded a statement accusing a city MCA by the name Maurice of stealing her money.

Judy, however, did not clarify whether it was Nairobi West MCA Maurice Gari or Maurice Akuk of Nyayo Highrise, who took off with her money after invading her boutique.

The attendant at Devinne Boutique in Magharibi Place next to T-Mall, informed the media that Mr Maurice stormed into her business premises with two perfumes, VIP and Shalne Halua, both valued at Sh10,000 which he had allegedly bought on February 10.

According to the Judy, the MCA had returned the bottles of fragrance claiming they were fake.

She narrated that the Ward Representative did not wait for her explanation, but he took away her handbag which had the cash.

“When I talked to him, he declined to listen to me. He jumped into the shop, opened the drawer and took away my handbag, which had Sh70,000,” Judy told the Star.

Both MCA’s have dismissed the claims, with Gari saying that he neither knew Judy nor the boutique.

He added that on the day he is accused of buying the commodities, he was in Naivasha attending the launch of the Nairobi government 10-year strategic plan.

Mr Gari also claimed that he does not wear perfumes since he is allergic to them.
