Woman Jailed Over Watching Terrorism Videos

A Kenyan woman was sentenced to five years in jail after she was caught in possession of videos promoting terrorism in December 2015.

Amina Mwaiz Muange was allegedly deported from India on December 12 when authorities suspected that she had intentions of joining ISIS; a jihadist militant group based in Iraq and Syria.

Prosecutor Duncan Ondimu said Ms Muange voluntarily pleaded guilty to the charges after understanding the repurcussions and penalties.

Mr Ondimu further told the court that the accused converted to Islam in 2004 while in Kisauni, Mombasa, and got married in 2007 but later divorced.

In 2010, Ms Muange travelled to Saudi Arabia after landing a job in the Arabian country through the assistance of a woman named Mishi. Her contract was later extended before she reportedly changed employers and moved to India on October 16, 2015.

It was in India that she was captured by Intelligence Officers while at her employer's house, Nairobi News reported.
