A group of young men and women on Wednesday morning attempted to disrupt CORD's meeting at the Bomas of Kenya, where the Opposition is expected to launch the National Super Alliance (NASA).
Its not clear what sparked the angry confrontation but order was restored and normalcy resumed.
CORD co-principals Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetangula as well as African National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi are expected to grace the meeting where they will discuss, among other issues, the formation of NASA.
On Monday, Siaya Senator James Orengo and Tongaren MP Eseli Simiyu stated that the country should expect the formation of a “massive Opposition movement” which would bring down the Jubilee government during the August 8 Election.
“For about six months we have been speaking about Opposition unity. On Wednesday, we are going to take a stand once and for all,” Mr Orengo stated.
The Senator indicated that the meeting would be the start of a new political course whose aim would be to beat President Uhuru Kenyatta in the polls.
The Opposition leaders added that the forum would also be used to deliberate on the contentious electoral laws that were passed by both the Senate and the National Assembly.
Meanwhile, over 4,000 Opposition leaders drawn from ODM, Wiper Party, Ford Kenya and ANC have already arrived at the Bomas of Kenya for the talks.
