PHOTOS: What Each Kenya 7s Player Will Receive

The Kenya Rugby Sevens team popularly referred to as Shujaa was met with a heroic reception upon touching down at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) after winning the Main Cup of Rugby Sevens Singapore series.

Following the historic win, Shujaa sponsors Kenya Airways has promised that it would reward each of the 17 players with a Sh100,000 token.

While announcing the incentive on Tuesday, Kenya Airways CEO Mbuvi Ngunze also awarded each member of the team with three tickets to any of the airline's destination.

Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko also announced that he would compliment the offer with an extra Sh100,000 to every player who participated in the tournament.

On the other hand, Sports Cabinet Secretary Hassan Wario promised that the government would give Sh2 Million to the Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) to clear all accruing allowances and bills.

Wario divulged that plans were set for the team to be hosted by President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House on Wednesday, during which a special announcement in line with awarding Shujaa would be made.

The promises were made at Ole Sereni Hotel where the Champions were treated to lunch after being ferried from JKIA in state-of-the art limousines courtesy of the Sonko Rescue Team.
