Another Officer Arrested Over Lawyer Willie Kimani Murder

Inspector of Police Joseph Boinnet has said that a fourth police officer linked to the murder of lawyer Willie Kimani, his client Josephat Mwenda and taxi driver Joseph Muiruri has been arrested.

Sergeant  Leonard Mwangi based at the Mlolongo Administration Police camp was arrested on Monday night after being mentioned in the on-going investigations.

Detectives probing the mysterious killings are also said to be hunting down three other cops believed to have abducted the victims from Syokimau AP post.

The said officers, who are suspected to have picked the victims, have reportedly abandoned their duties and gone into hiding.

Meanwhile, three other AP officers — Senior Sergeant Fredrick Leliman, Corporal Stephen Chebulet and Constable Silvia Wanjiku Wanjohi — linked to the murder of the three were arraigned in court on Monday and will be detained for 14 more days to facilitate investigations.

An autopsy report conducted by government Pathologist Johansen Oduor on Monday revealed that the three were tortured before being killed.

The postmortem showed that the lawyer and his two associates died after being hit with blunt objects on their heads then strangled.

The Law Society of Kenya (LSK), human rights activists, taxi and bodaboda operators held nationwide protests on Monday demanding justice for the colleagues who were killed.
