Former NTV Presenter Janet Kanini Ikua Passes on

Former NTV presenter Janet Kanini Ikua has passed on Saturday morning following a long battle with cancer.

Ms Ikua breathed her last at the age of 38 with the death being confirmed by her family.

News of her demise shocked many since the celebrated journalist appeared on several public forum declaring that she was healthy.

A majority of Kenyans including her former colleagues took to social under hashtag #RIPJanetKaniniIkua to express their sorrow and send condolence messages to her family.

The mother of two was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer that had spread to the abdomen and lymph nodes in the neck area in September 2015.

She then started undergoing treatment at a hospital in India, receiving overwhelming emotional and financial support from Kenyans who helped raise funds for her and her family.

In February 2016, an elated Kanini took to Facebook to reveal that after a PET-MRI scan, she had been declared cancer free.

“The cancer lesions that had been in my liver, bones, abdomen, lymph nodes and lungs are gone, ” read her post in part.

She revealed that the results had also shocked her doctors who indicated that surviving stage four cancer was truly a miracle.

“They said that many people must have been praying for me because these results are rare in a stage 4 diagnosis, and I told them, Yes. I have a prayer army,” Kanini stated.

She is a former news anchor and host to NTV’s N-Soko Property Show.
