Miguna Miguna Reveals Why He Abandoned James Gathungu, Picked Karen Wangethe as Running mate

Nairobi Gubernatorial candidate Miguna Miguna has revealed that his former running mate, James Gathungu, deserted him on the day of submitting nomination papers to the IEBC, hence, he had to replace him.

Speaking on NTV Tuesday morning, Miguna revealed that Gathungu had disappeared for two weeks prior to the day they were supposed to submit their papers, only to resurface on the D-day with his academic qualifications, not in order.

“That man disappeared for two weeks and only turned up on the day I was presenting my nomination papers.

“And then, he also didn’t meet the threshold for this job. His academic qualifications were not in order. That said, I am one of the very few candidates who has entrusted a youthful woman to do this job,” Miguna said.

After abandoning 24-year old Gathungu, Miguna picked Karen Wangenye, who is aged 29 years.

Last week, Miguna’s clearance at the IEBC was shrouded with drama after the County returning officer Joseph Mele rejected his papers for being in the wrong format.

Ms Wangenye holds a degree in Sociology from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa.

She has been urging youth and women to vote for their team as they stand for integrity and transparency, which the city needs to be transformed.

Miguna will battle it out for the county's top seat with incumbent Governor, Evans Kidero of the ODM Party, Jubilee’s Mike Sonko and Independent candidate Peter Kenneth.
