Former Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar Shamed After Joining Jubilee Party

Nairobi lawyer Miguna Miguna has taken a swipe at former Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar after he pledged allegiance to Jubilee Party.

Miguna, who unsuccessfully vied for Nairobi governorship, further blasted Omar for vowing to defend the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) CEO Ezra Chiloba.

The outspoken lawyer on Sunday pointed out that the former Senator had blamed Mr Chiloba after his loss to Mombasa governor Hassan Joho but had now jumped ship because 'Jubilee Party owns him.'

“Mr Hassan Omar claimed that Ezra Chiloba rigged him out but he now tells Chiloba to "go nowhere" because Jubilee party owns both of them,” Miguna posted on his Twitter account.

The former Wiper Secretary General over the weekend stated that the National Super Alliance (NASA) was unfair in pushing for the removal of Chiloba without any evidence that he bungled the August 8 General Election.

Omar asked the IEBC CEO to ignore any calls for his resignation by the Opposition and continue with his job at the Commission.

“I am ready to defend this young man because the Supreme Court found no culpability on any of the IEBC officials.

"You cannot support or respect one side of the decision and not the other,” added Omar.

Speaking during a function presided over by President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto in Mombasa on Sunday, Omar reiterated that there is no way NASA leader Raila Odinga could be President and at the same time have Joho as Mombasa Governor.

He questioned how Odinga would lead the country as he supports Joho, who has mismanaged the Mombasa county.

"We cannot have Raila as President and Joho as governor. We must do everything to change the direction of the country, " he stated.

He further added that if the petition he filed in court challenging Joho's victory goes through, he is ready to negotiate with Suleiman Shahbal, who contested for governorship on a Jubilee party ticket, to oust Joho.
