NASA Supporter Threatens to Beat KTN's Sophia Wanuna [VIDEO]

KTN journalist Sophia Wanuna found herself in a potentially dangerous situation on Thursday morning after a National Super Alliance (NASA) supporter threatened to beat her while covering the election activities in Kibra, Nairobi County.

Ms Wanuna was filming along Karanja Road near Olympic Primary School when the angry supporter ordered the news crew to leave the area.

"Endeni bwana (Leave here!)" the man shouted at the stunned journalist.

Ms Wanuna tried to remain calm while the camera continued filming as the drama unfolded.

"A little bit of commotion here with one of the supporters coming out dictating who will or will not be here," she explained.

The angry man donned in a black jacket picked up a metal rod to make good his threats.

At this point, Ms Wanuna was forced to retreat to avoid a confrontation with the irate man.

However, the situation was resolved and the news crew was able to continue covering the protests in the area.

The roads were barricaded by supporters believed to be allied to the Opposition as they engaged in running battles with the police.

Meanwhile, around the country, most polling stations recorded low voter turnout.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) stated that voting had begun at 6 am in most of the polling stations.

"A few opened late due to logistical challenges, they get time compensation after 5 pm," IEBC tweeted.
