Lawyer Otiende Amollo Asks IEBC to Declare Uhuru President

National Super Alliance (NASA) lawyer Otiende Amollo has told the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to declare President Uhuru Kenyatta as the winner of the repeat election.

Through a post on social media, Mr Amollo, who is the Rarieda MP, advised the electoral body to start counting the ballots early to save time.

"I think the IEBC can start counting by Noon and declare HE Uhuru Kenyatta President by 2 pm to save time & energy," he tweeted.

When a user asked whether he would go to the Supreme Court to challenge the election results, Mr Amollo stated that it was not an option.

"To do what? Where Will They Get Quorum From?" he posed.

On Wednesday, NASA leader Raila Odinga announced that he was transforming the opposition coalition into a resistance movement.

He further asked NASA supporters to stay at home on election day and engage in prayers urging them to steer clear of violence in their quest for justice.

Mr Odinga added that there was a plan by the government to massacre his supporters and as such, asked them to stay away from polling stations.

He referred to the election as a 'coup' stating that it was high time Kenyans stood up for their rights.

"When injustice becomes law, resistance becomes a duty and if there is no justice for the people, let there be no peace for the government.

"Consequently, when the government is established contrary to the Constitution and the law, defiance and disobedience becomes an imperative," stated Odinga.
