5 Things Worrying Kenyan Youth - TIFA Survey

A recent survey has indicated that unemployment remains the most worrying subject among the Kenyan youth.

The survey by research company Trends and Insights For Africa (TIFA) indicates that the youth are equally troubled by corruption, poverty, environmental pollution, and tribalism.

According to the survey, 16 percent of Kenyan youth are most concerned about unemployment, 15 percent corruption and 12 percent by poverty.

The research further found that 10 percent of the youth are worried about environmental pollution and 9 percent are concerned about the situation of tribalism in Kenya.

On world matters, the survey released by TIFA director, Maggie Ireri, found that global warming was the most worrying trend for the Kenyan youth at 27 percent.

Other concerns about the world for the Kenyan youth include pollution at 15 percent, poverty (12%), unemployment (8%), and terrorism (5%).

The respondents indicated high awareness of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) including good health and well-being, quality education, gender equality; and clean water and sanitation.

The involvement in the SDGs was higher among male respondents at (65%) as compared to (58%) among the female respondents with the internet cited as the main source of information on SDGs by 77% of the youth.
