No Survivors After Flysax Plane Crash

Transport Permanent Secretary Paul Maringa has confirmed that there were no survivors found in the wreck of FlySax plane found in the Aberdares.

On Thursday FlySax Chairman Charles Wako stated that the two crew members and eight passengers in the plane perished in the crash which happened in the Aberdares.

"Unfortunately there are no survivors from the Fly Sax 5Y-CAC Plane crash. We have notified the families," PS Maringa stated during a presser.

The wreckage of the missing plane was sighted on the South Western part of the Aberdares two days after it went off the radar.

Maringa confirmed the wreckage was sighted on Thursday morning by pilots on choppers involved in the search at Njabini area and recovery efforts.

According to the National Disaster Management Unit (NDMU)Deputy Director Pius Masai, ground rescue teams were dispatched at dawn in search for the missing aircraft.

The recovery operation was, however, hampered by bad weather which was also blamed for the crash that occurred late Tuesday.

It was flying to Nairobi from Kitale and had been diverted to the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport from its initial destination of Wilson Airport.

The plane from Kitale that had 8 passengers and two crew, members went off the radar at 5:20 pm, on Tuesday the exact time it was expected to land at the Wilson Airport in Nairobi.
