AG Kihara Now Wants Politicians Facing Corruption Cases to Step Aside

Attorney General Paul Kihara has called on all politicians and professionals facing corruption cases to step aside.

Addressing a two-day convention of the Association of Professional Societies in East Africa on Friday, Kihara accused politicians and professions of abetting corruption and "only paying lip service to the fight."

Kihara regretted that Kenya has turned into a society where the graft is accepted as normal.

Additionally, the principal legal advisor of the government asserted that corruption would be wiped out during his term.

"I want people who come to my funeral to say ‘this is the person who truly stood against corruption’. Under my watch, for sure, we shall overcome corruption," AG mentioned.

He also accused professionals such s doctors, architects, and lawyers of promoting  the vice.

Kihara stated: "We as professionals are the ones stealing and looting.

"Surprisingly, I see many of these leaders flock our offices requesting that we recommend good lawyers for them because they know they have done ills and need protection. This really breaks my heart,” he added.

His sentiments come after Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong', who is facing corruption allegations, was freed on bail after spending two nights in police cells.

Milimani chief magistrate Douglas Ogoti directed Mr Ojaamong’ together with three members of the county executive, Bernard YaiteAllan Ekweny and Samuel Ombui, to deposit a cash bail of Ksh1 million each to secure their release.
