Harambee Stars striker Michael Olunga completed a transfer to Japanese side Kashiwa Reysol from Chinese club Guizhou Zhicheng on Thursday.
The striker, who joined Spanish La Liga side Girona on loan in September 2017, becomes the first Kenyan to play in the J1 League, the top division of the Japan Professional Football League.
The transfer believed to be worth around Sh300 million will also see Olunga become one of the highest paid Kenyan players.
He will earn Sh15 million a month at Reysol on a three-year contract, up from around Sh10 million at Guizhou Zhicheng.
In 2016, Zhicheng signed him from Swedish club Djurgardens IF for Sh400 million on a four-year contract.

Prior to that, Olunga had impressed right here at home, scoring 19 goals as he led Gor Mahia to a season-long unbeaten run and Kenya Premier League (KPL) success.
Olunga had been linked to English clubs Everton, Huddersfield and Hull City before it was announced that he would be heading to Japan.
Kashiwa Reysol finished 13th on the 18-team log last season.
The club has been crowned Japanese league winners twice in their history.
Having won their last match against Consadole Sapporo 2-1, Reysol's first match with Olunga on board will be against Vegalta Sengai on Saturday.
