Ghana's Black Stars Arrive in Kenya Ahead of AFCON Qualifier at Kasarani

Ghana's Black Stars players and technical bench arrived in Nairobi ahead of their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Qualifying match against Kenya on Saturday.

The team lead by Coach Kwesi Appiah fwhich eatures stars such as Inter Milan's Kwadwo Asamoah and Atletico Madrid's Thomas Teye Partey prayed after touching down at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

They travelled from Ethiopia where they camped ahead of the match which Kenya cannot afford to lose having fallen to Sierra Leone in their first match.

Appiah stated that they felt comfortable in the country as he promised not to underestimate Sebastian Migne's Harambee Stars.

“Kenya is home, we severally camp here, we feel free everything is good, the weather, the language and the people too.

“We’ve prepared well, I am trying to know my team and I don’t believe in what supporters are saying that I left out one or two key players. Ghana has a lot of players, those not with us now will be with us in the future," he stated.

After Matchday one, Kenya are third in Group F while Ghana are perched at the top.

The qualifier will be seen as a huge test for recently appointed French tactician Migne who named his final squad earlier this week.

It will be played on September 8 at the Kasarani Stadium with terrace tickets going for Sh200 and Sh1000 foor VIP.

Former Girona striker Michael Olunga who transferred to Japan's Kashiwa Reysol is expected to be the focal point of Kenya's attack alongside Jesse Were.

Tottenham Hotspur's Victor Wanyama who recently returned to training in London after an injury lay-off was not named in the squad, with the midfield featuring Gor Mahia playmaker Francis Kahata and the likes of Eric Johanna, Anthony Akumu, Ismail Gonzalez and Johanna Omollo.
