Uhuru, Raila, Ruto Eulogize Joseph Kamaru in Emotional Burial

President Uhuru Kenyatta, Deputy President William Ruto and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga led mourners in eulogizing legendary Gikuyu artist Joseph Kamaru at Muthithi Primary School in Murang'a County on Thursday.

President Kenyatta remembered Kamaru as an incredible artist who influenced, inspired and brought people together, using the occasion to call for a truly united country.

"Ningependa kuwaambia wakenya wasipotoshwe na siasa ya pesa (I'd like to ask Kenyans not to be led astray by the politics of cash).

"Kenya will never achieve her true position in the world unless we come together, unite, bring our respective strengths together and respect one another," he stated.

Hailing the music maestro's unmatched talent, Uhuru invited artists to State House for discussions on how to take the industry to the next level.

The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, 16th October.

He further addressed battles for control of Murang’a Water and Sanitation Company (Muwasco) raging on as residents suffer with poor water supply.

"Nina uhakika kuwa tutapata suluhu na kila mkenya atapata haki yake (I'm sure we'll find a solution and every Kenyan will get their right)

"Mabishano ni ya nini kati ya maji ya Murang’a na Nairobi? (What's the use of arguing on the water in Murang'a and Nairobi?)," he posed on the matter pitting Governor Mwangi Wa Iria against former Equity Bank Chairman Peter Munga who chairs MUWASCO.

Ruto, on the other hand, called on leaders to emulate Kamaru's work ethic noting that he recorded over 2,000 songs.

"Ile kazi Kamaru aliamua kufanya alifanya na kuna ushahidi kuwa aliifanya (The work Kamaru chose to do, he did and there is evidence that he did it)," he stated.

Raila praised Kamaru for uniting Kenyans, explaining that his handshake with Uhuru had the same purpose.

"Plenty be found within our borders. In the Bible that is Canaan!

"That's the Canaan we were talking about, but when we got to River Jordan we found crocodiles and decided to build a bridge," he stated.
