Police Officer Interjects Armed Gangsters, Recovers Ksh 400,000

A police officer has warmed hearts of Kenyans after they discovered that he single-handedly rescued a man from armed gangsters.

The officer identified as AP Constable Joash Ombati on Wednesday spotted a man being thrown out of a moving vehicle and decided to pursue further.

Constable Ombati, therefore, boarded a nearby taxi and chased after the gangsters interjecting them at a junction in Westlands.

According to a police report, the victim, Amos Charo Saro, had gone to Nairobi from Voi in pursuit of cheap construction materials deal he had made with a seller he met on OLX.

He fired eight rounds of ammunition injuring no one and managed to recover Ksh400,000 from a reported Ksh732,000 payout.

Also recovered was the Toyota KBJ used by the gangsters.

The two suspects, Sameer Abdulaziz Kassim and Peter Kavoi Musili, who were nabbed, are held up at Parklands Police Station set to be charged with robbery with violence.

Ombati revealed that he was overjoyed to help save a life and that he was satisfied to recover would-be stolen items.

He told The Star, “If I could have ignored the thieves, then it means that I'm being paid to do zero work? In that case, I should just leave my work and go home and look after cows."

He, however, revealed that his wife was shocked by the brevity given that he is the breadwinner and a father of two children.
