Dr Susan Mboya Resigns From Liberty Holdings

Dr Susan Mboya, who is also the wife of former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero, has resigned as a Director and Chairperson of the Board of Directors at Liberty Holdings.

In a statement sent to newsrooms, the company communicated that Non-Executive Director Philip Odera will act as Chairman.

"Under her tenure, the company received acknowledgment as a leading listing company in corporate governance,” read the statement.

The board thanked Dr. Mboya for her invaluable service and wished her well in her future endeavours.

She has left at a time when analysts have projected better financial performance for the company on the back of expected growth of the insurance firm’s long-term business.

Susan joined Liberty Kenya Holdings Plc (formerly Liberty Kenya Holdings Limited) Board in 2011 and was appointed to chair it in 2012.

She was also a Director at Eurasia Africa Group (EAG) for Women’s Economic Empowerment at Coca-Cola.

In this role, she was leading the group’s deployment of an initiative undertaken by the Coca-Cola Company to empower five million women entrepreneurs across the Coca-Cola System by 2020.

She has previously been awarded the Elder of the Burning Spear (EBS), the highest civilian award from the Kenya Government in recognition of her dedication and service to the Country’s youth through the Zawadi Africa Educational Fund.

Mboya has forged public-private partnerships to help resource, fund and provide technical expertise for international organisations including USAID, "GETF", DFID, TechnoServe, MercyCorps, and the International Finance Corporation.
