A politician was on Friday involved in a grisly accident after his car hit gazelles before rolling several times along Namanga Road.
Matapato South MCA, Hosea Toshi was reportedly driving home when he unexpectedly encountered the animals at Olenkapapa borehole on the Bissil/Ng’atataek road in the mid-morning hours.
His predecessor, Lesalaon Seki, who was among those first on the scene, disclosed that the accident occurred at 10:30 AM.
“He hit the gazelles before his car rolled several times. The MCA was picked several metres away from his wrecked car and that he was bleeding from nose and ears. He also complained of a backache,” Seki was quoted by a local news site.
First responders rushed Toshi to Bissil dispensary for first aid and later to Kajiado Referral Hospital.
Doctors who accessed his situation recommended he be transferred to Nairobi hospital for treatment.
The area where the accident occurred is a known black spot where wild animals cross the road.
Drivers travelling along stretches of road with a wildlife population are advised to proceed with caution especially along dark and secluded roads that have lots of wildlife around them.
"Accidents along the stretch can be avoided if only the drivers are careful and look out for the animals," a traffic police advises.
Car owners are further advised to get adequate car insurance for their vehicle that will cover crashes caused by wild animals.
