TSC CEO Nancy Macharia Announces 5000 Jobs After Meeting Raila

Teachers Service Commission (TSC) CEO Nancy Macharia on Tuesday announced 5000 new jobs under her docket.

According to the TSC boss, the batch of secondary school teachers will be employed by the end of January in line with the government's 100 per cent transition policy.

The announcement came shortly after she met ODM Party Leader Raila Odinga at his at Capitol Hill Square office.

During the courtesy call on Raila, the two held discussions on issues to do with education and the challenges teachers face.

However, it is not clear whether the hiring of the new teachers was among the things Macharia and Raila discussed.

The TSC CEO, together with Education Principal Secretary (PS) Belio Kipsang, later took to Kajiado County where they monitored the progress of 100 per cent transition policy.

On Monday, Education CS Amina Mohamed indicated that the Form One transition this year stands at 83 per cent.

Speaking at St Marys Secondary School in Nakuru, the CS exuded confidence that the remaining 17 per cent would be achieved in the next one month.

CS Amina further noted that the government, through her ministry, was working tirelessly to improve infrastructure hence decongesting classes in the advent of the new directive.

"The government will have to increase classes in public secondary schools to accommodate the large numbers," she added.
