11 People Perish in Eldama Ravine Road Accident

At least 11 people have died in a tragic road accident on the Eldoret-Eldama Ravine road.

According to Moi Teaching Referal Hospital medical superintendent, Polycarp Otara, eight people died on the spot after the car they were travelling in crashed.

Two assistant chiefs were among those who perished in the night accident.

Otala disclosed that three survivors are in a critical condition.

Witnesses revealed the driver of the 14-seater matatu lost control of the vehicle at the blackspot.

The accident occurred at around 9pm on Monday.

Elsewhere, a tanker exploded into flames killing two, a driver and his turnboy, at Kaburengo interchange along Eldoret-Webuye Road.

The tanker was reportedly transporting sulphuric acid before it veered off the road, crashed and burst into flames.

The deceased were burnt beyond recognition even as medics from Red Cross and St. Johns Ambulance attempted to put out the flames.

According to eyewitnesses, the tanker's explosion further spread the flames thereby burning several cars that were nearby.
