Kenyans to Pay Ksh20,000 to Attend Devolution Conference

The Council of Governors (CoG) has announced the price Kenyans will have to pay to register for the Sixth Annual Devolution Conference.

The conference will be hosted by Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru at Kirinyaga University between March 4 and March 8, 2018.

Each delegate will have to part with Ksh20,000 to attend the event and Ksh50,000 to exhibit products.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, a CoG Communications Officer stated that the money would be used to cater for the conference's expenses.

During an inspection of the venue, Professor Mary Ndung’u, the Vice Chancellor Kirinyaga University affirmed to the conference's steering committee that the facilities were ready for use by the delegates.

“Despite the school being in session, the university will ensure that everything works seamlessly with minimum interruptions on either operation,” she assured.

Governor Wairugu has already received Ksh94 million from her 46 counterparts in preparation for the event.

“We have held several meetings with representatives from the county, hoteliers from the county, and the CoG team and our people have been sensitized on the standards of food and sanitation for the meeting,” stated the Governor.

She promised tight security during the five-day event while calling on locals to turn out in large numbers to welcome the guests.

"We have held meetings with security officers from the region to discuss how the delegates will be protected during the conference," she confirmed.

The conference will build up from previous ones and allow the government and its key stakeholders to discuss what they have managed to deliver, the transformation over the last one year and to measure the progress made in regards to President Uhuru Kenyatta's Big Four Agenda.
