KTN Journalist Timothy Otieno Worked as Supermarket Attendant

KTN News reporter Timothy Otieno revealed that he once worked as an attendant at a local supermarket prior to landing his dream job.

"I was a supermarket clerk. I was one of the guys you'd normally find along supermarket aisles selling promotional products," he disclosed to a local publication.

The reporter went on to add that he used to earn Ksh 700 per day for his efforts.

Otieno also paid to tribute to his lost loved ones when quizzed on any regrets he may harbour during the interview.

"I wish some of my loved ones who sacrificed so much to allow me to be where I am now would have lived long enough to see me thrive," he stated.

“So many people inspire me, I cannot choose one. I believe each and every person inspires me differently. Locally, I admire Alex Chamwada and Jeff Koinange. I love Chamwada for his ability to do extraordinary stories; stories that are rare and not the usual news items people are used to. Koinange’s poise, articulation, and TV presence really inspire me," he divulged.

He added that he would use his newfound success and  TV platform to do good and help out the ordinary people who merited a shot at a different ending to their story.

The journalist previously received two nominations for the Annual Journalism Excellence Awards (AJEA) in 2016 and 2017 respectively.

Otieno, who worked at KTN home for years, once featured at number 7 on Kenyans top 25 under 25 inspirational Kenyan youth in 2017 by the youth village.

He is a Moi University alumni, where he graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Journalism and Mass Communication in 2015.
