Ex-MP & Wife Wash Their Dirty Linen in Court

Former Nyali MP, Hezron Awiti, who has had marital wrangles with his wife over a long period of time, has now been granted fresh hearing after 10 long years of waiting.

The former legislator who had filed a divorce case in court against his wife Lucy Adhiambo in 2009 will now be heard on June 27, 2019.

The devastated MP had been accused of various marital offences that put him in bad light with the members of the public.

The agitated wife accused her husband of denying her conjugal rights with the claims that he suffered erectile dysfunction which denied her sexual satisfaction since 2005.

Lucy further accused the former lawmaker of cheating on her with other five women and later abandoning their matrimonial home.

The unhappy wife then went ahead to file a cross-petition wanting out of the unhappy marriage claiming that denying her conjugal rights was defying the natural rule of nature.

A devasted Awiti, who filed the divorce case that was met with a cross-petition from his wife, accused Lucy of adultery and stealing Ksh8 million from his company.

Lucy, later on, withdrew the petition citing threats from Awiti, who allegedly physically assaulted her and validated his threats by withdrawing their children from their prestigious school.

Awiti, however, maintains that the accusations were null explaining that he had been meeting all his obligations as a father and husband.

According to the presiding judge only identified as Mugure, reinstatement of the cross-petition is only fair because Awiti never set the petition down for a hearing since filing it.

According to the judge who ruled on the case, it was clear that Lucy wished to be released from the unhappy matrimonial union which could only be done through hearing and determination of the case.

The wrangling couple have not lived together since 2004. According to reports by The Star, Lucy made it clear that hastening the matter was the most prudent course of action especially since alternative dispute resolution yielded no fruit.

Netizens have taken to social media condemning how the two washed their dirty linen in public and are impatiently awaiting the case's ruling.
