Mercy Masika Lands International Ambassadorial Job

Kenyan Musician Mercy Masika has landed a job as a Goodwill Ambassador at the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees(UNHCR), becoming the first Kenyan to clinch this position.

Taking to her Instagram page, Masika expressed her excitement and delight at the new role accorded her by the international body.

"It's a real honour to be appointed Goodwill Ambassador, thank you @unhcrkenya @unhcr for this honor.

I believe this role is given to us together to represent our own, especially those that we are called to, the vulnerable, persecuted and everyone forced to flee, did you know Jesus was a refugee?" she posed.

She highlighted that during her time as Goodwill Ambassador, she would like to meet more people forced to flee their homes for various reasons.

"I will use my platforms to share what they go through so that people can understand how it is to be a refugee," she continued.

Masika revealed that she was drawn to working with UNHCR following the many Bible versus that urge everyone to take care of the foreigners.

"The first time I went to Kakuma refugee camp was life changing because I got to hear from women who had been through really terrible experiences," she divulged.
