Controversial blogger, Robert Alai, was on Tuesday released on a cash bail of Ksh 300,000 or a bond of Ksh 500,000.
Alai, who had been in remand for 13 days, had been arraigned in court for publishing photos of officers killed by an IED explosion in Wajir county.
He was arrested on the morning of June 18 and taken to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters along Kiambu Road.
When Alai was arraigned in court on June 19, police officers told the magistrate that the photos Alai posted on Twitter were taken by an Al-Shabaab sympathizer at the scene of the attack.
A prison warder cum blogger was also arrested in Kitui, in association with the gory photos of police officers who died in the IED attack in Wajir County.
Patrick Safari was picked up by the Anti-Terror Police Unit (ATPU) from his house and held at the Mutomo Police Station over the issue.
He was then moved to the ATPU offices in Nairobi for grilling.
In a second count, Alai disclosed information of a deceased police officer to the public.
This was despite having a reasonable cause to suspect that a police officer was undertaking investigations in the matter hence likely to prejudice the investigations.
The attack occurred last month when officers were ambushed while pursuing attackers who raided a village in Konton area and kidnapped three police reservists.
