2 Reasons Why Sonko Hasn't Given Conjestina a Job

Nairobi Governor, Mike Sonko, on Wednesday, addressed concerns that he had abandoned ailing Kenyan boxer Conjestina Achieng' after promising to take care of her.

Taking to his social media, the county head admitted that he hadn't given Conjestina a job in the county yet for a number of reasons.

"Firstly, we are waiting for her to recover fully. She has to fully recover before we give her any job," he explained.

He added that before assigning jobs in the county government, there were certain processes that had to be followed.

"There are processes to be followed before we give anyone a job through the county public service board. We don't play PR with the people we help," he added.

In his video on Facebook, Sonko phoned a director at Eden Rehab centre where Conjestina is undergoing treatment and got confirmation that she was progressing well.

The boxer also got on the phone confirming that she was doing well, "Everything is going well. I'm well if you can arrange for me even if it's a fight.

"I'd like to go back to Nairobi to continue with my training," she stated.

Sonko promised to have her discharged and book a flight to Nairobi to carry on with her training.

Earlier in May, there were reports that Conjestina had relapsed when a picture surfaced online.

A report by The Standard indicated that Conjestina spent most of her time in drinking dens after returning to her village in Yala, Siaya County.
