Uhuru's Promise to Martha Karua Comes Back to Haunt Him

President Uhuru Kenyatta's penchant to making promises has come back to haunt him following his unfulfilled pledge to National Rainbow Coalition Kenya (Narc-Kenya) leader Martha Karua.

Speaking to members of the press on Tuesday, Kirinyaga Jubilee Party chairman, Mureithi Kangara, reached out to the president asking him to give the former presidential aspirant a job.

Mureithi argued that during the 2017 elections, Uhuru had fielded both Anne Waiguru (now Kirinyaga Governor) and Karua for the race promising that whoever lost would get a state appointment.

This came a few hours after the Supreme Court declared that Waiguru was validly elected.

"It is high time for leaders from Kirinyaga to come together and resolve their differences so that development is achieved," The Star quoted Mureithi.

He urged the president to appoint her to a cabinet position even after she tried to challenge Waiguru's election and lost at the apex court.

To Karua, the official asked her to accept the court's verdict and work hard to clinch the seat next time.

He even offered Trade Cabinet Secretary, Peter Munya, as an example, since he did not contest Meru gubernatorial election and was handed the position by the president.

"We appreciate Uhuru for giving us three principal secretaries positions but let him now give us a CS," offered the Chairman.

After the Supreme Court verdict, Karua came forward claiming that she did not receive justice since the courts lost her evidence.
