Vanessa Mdee Breaks Down in Tears After Emotional EAGT Performance

How often does one get to share their life story - a story about their struggle and climb to greatness with an emotional dance?

Yada Yada, a dance duo from Kenya, stole the audience’s hearts with an emotional contemporary dance. Dancing to a song about the dark and the broken places and later transitioning to a story of hope.

After a tear-jerking performance, one of the dancers tried to tell his story, “When I started dancing my family never supported me after my mother passed away.”

He was, however, unable to continue as he was overcome by emotions and his partner took over explaining that it was his dream to be featured in one of the biggest shows in Africa.

Judge Vanessa Mdee connected deeply with the performance and the story as she was equally unable to keep her tears at bay.

She eventually gathered herself and conveyed, “Sometimes, you can have all the talent in the world but at times you need people who will stand by you and I know what it's like to have people who will not stand for you.

“I'm relating to your life and it’s a yes from me,” she stated amid tears.

That was just one of many performances that really wowed the judges.

Sinaubi Zawose from Tanzania, playing the Zeze, traditional African musical instrument, and with a soulful voice to boot, the authentic African emotion came to the fore. It did not matter whether one can speak Swahili or not.

His song on 'work' and his singing prowess could incite even the hardest of hearts, a truly magical African experience.

Representing Girl Power! the Starlets, an all-girl crew from Nairobi, Kenya, busted moves that many can only dream of.

From Kigali, Rwanda, Urban Dance crew, consisting of a 22-year-old teacher and his 10-year-old student took to the stage in matching outfits and well-choreographed moves that earned them four yeses.

Plastic boys from Dar-es-Salaam Tanzania performed a unique brand of contortion that left us all wondering if it was humanly possible to curve such angles.

Initially, it didn't seem to float the judges' boat, but they managed to convince them after they explained why exactly they perform their act.

Though jeff stuck on with his 'no' conviction, they convinced Gaetano to change his mind and give them a lifeline.

I guess second chances are what EAGT is all about.

J Luc from Rwanda tried his hand at opera, singing Ave Maria, but he fell short of the judges' expectations. The judges, however, did not fail to recognize his deep voice and potential that he is yet to tap.

Other notable performances were, Alisha Popat, a singer-songwriter from Kenya whose voice was simply angelic in how she belted out her tune, Elisha The Gift, Congolese-Ugandan crew Holy Dance Crew, a Kung-fu performance from Cloudience of Kigali Rwanda.
