KDF's Touching Gesture to Deceased Colleagues [VIDEO]

Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) soldiers on Monday, October 14, presented a heart-touching gesture to honour their deceased colleagues.

The soldiers who were celebrating KDF Day at Lang'ata Barracks presented a monument engraved with names of fallen soldiers.

The monument was unveiled by Defense CS Rachel Omamo who presided over the ceremony.

"This monument will, therefore, honour the brave sons and daughters who paid the ultimate price by giving up their life for the defense of our country," read a soldier.

A passionate message from the KDF accompanied the presented monument that represented a combat headgear supported by a gun in soldier boots.

"These are men and women who left their families in the defined quest for the well being of their country. Their deaths teach us to love, respect and make sacrifices for each other. You will forever be remembered. We will remember you at sunset. Your acts of valor will remain undisputed and memories will remain imprinted in the hearts and minds of Kenyans," he declared.

The celebration in honour of deceased KFD soldiers comes two weeks after four KDF officers were killed in a grisly road accident.

The officers were travelling on the Meru-Isiolo Highway when they were involved in the road crash.

On September 10 an explosion in Mandera left three KDF soldiers and two Anti Stock dead. About 20 others were injured during the 1 p.m. incident and were airlifted to Nairobi for treatment.
