Head-on Collision Kills Four KDF Soldiers

Four Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officers were on Sunday, September 30, killed in a grisly road accident.

Confirming the incident, Buuri OCPD Joseph Asugo stated that the officers were travelling on the Meru-Isiolo Highway when they were involved in the road crash.

Asugo stated that the driver of the vehicle lost control before colliding head-on with a private car at Matunda area, Citizen Digital reported.

The officers reportedly died on the spot and their bodies moved to Kiirua Mission Hospital mortuary.

The occupants of the other vehicle, a man his wife and two children, sustained injuries.

They were rushed to Kiirua Mission Hospital for emergency treatment.

Earlier in June, eight KDF officers were hospitalised after a truck they were travelling in overturned along Kangundo road in Machakos County.

Matungulu Sub County Police Commander, Isaac Thuranira confirmed the incident from the scene of the accident.

In May, KDF officers were involved in another accident in Riandira on Makutano-Sagana Road in Kirinyaga County that left one dead and three others injured.

Mwea West OCPD Owour Wenda, who confirmed the incident stated that the soldier died on the spot while the others – who sustained hand fractures — were taken to the nearby Sagana Hospital before later being transferred to a Nairobi hospital for specialised treatment.
