Ex-NMG Presenter Loses Posh Home

Former Nation FM presenter Angela Angwenyi is set to lose her house in an auction scheduled for Tuesday, October 15, after running into financial difficulties, Business Daily reported.

The house located at Jacaranda Gardens Estate in Nairobi was set to be auctioned by Garam Auctioneers that placed an announcement on a local daily.

"Our subject property is part of Jacaranda estate along Kamiti Road just after the Northern Bypass," the notice read.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Garam Auctioneers confirmed that the property was being auctioned.

"The reports are true and the auction of the property will take place today," Garam Auctioneers affirmed.

The presenter is confirmed to have run into a financial crisis after she was entangled in the National Youth Service (NYS) scandal where Out of the Box Solutions Limited, a company associated with her, won a Ksh302 million consultancy contract to publicise tenders for women and the youth.

The contract for user services and sensitisations campaigns did not specify the obligations for the parties raising doubts on whether advertisements actually ran as mentioned in the contracts.

Her company was awarded the contract to carry out a campaign to enhance access to 30% of government tenders reserved for youth, women and people living with disabilities.

The National Assembly's Public Accounts Committee (PAC) had stopped payments to Out of the Box Solutions owned by Angwenyi and Antony Lungaho after both parties had been paid Ksh90.7 million.

The two have, however, not been charged despite appearing before the committee to answer questions in connection with the NYS case.

Most people, including Angwenyi, who have been linked with the scandal had a hard time adjusting after their businesses and accounts were frozen.

The former Nation FM presenter went out of the limelight after her band accounts were frozen when investigations into her company started.

The Standard reported in October 2018 that after an application by the Asset Recovery Agency (ARA), Angwenyi had to explain how she convinced the Ministry of Devolution and Planning to give her company the tender.

Angwenyi's account at the Housing Finance was among the 115 accounts in 14 banks that were frozen to allow further investigations into the matter.
