Joho Parties With Legendary Musician [PHOTOS]

It was pomp and colour on Tuesday, October 15 when Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho joined a famous musician in celebration.

The governor partied with a legendary Bango musician Mzee Joseph Katana Ngala who was celebrating his 84th birthday.

"I was honored to join our very own legendary and iconic Bango maestro Mzee Ngala for his 84th birthday celebrations," stated Joho.

Mzee Ngala is credited for popularising Bango music at the Kenyan Coast and across East Africa.

The genre fuses traditional Portuguese music genres, Arabic influenced taarab music, jazz and music genres of local coastal Bantu languages.

Joho further applauded the Bango maestro who is popularly known by his stage name Mzee Bango, stating that his songs entertained, educated and united millions both locally and internationally.

In the photos, Joho who said he was honoured to have shared from his wisdom and experiences in life could be seen happily helping Ngala cut his birthday cake and later feed him a piece.

The governor is later seen addressing a large gathering that had come to celebrate with the popular musician.
