Ahmednasir Goes All Out After Moses Kuria's Damning Revelations

Renowned City lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi on Wednesday, November 6, criticised Gatundu South Member of Parliament (MP) Moses Kuria over a confession he made the previous day.

The senior counsel took to Twitter to condemn Kuria's statement regarding how parliamentarians failed in their oversight role on Kenya's debt.

"The confession by my friend Moses Kuria (a member of the ruling elite) is not an act of repentance but is a defiant restatement of impunity, political arrogance and a glaring testimony of the total absence of parliamentary accountability," he lashed.

The jubilee MP who spoke to Kenyans.co.ke, however, responded that he had no time for naysayers.

"Personally when I point out things it's with a view to mobilising Kenyans towards seeking solutions, not criticism for the sake of it," he affirmed.

On the previous day, during a discussion on live TV about interest rate capping and debt at Movenpick hotel, the legislator had confessed that the government had failed Kenyans.

"We have lied to Kenyans that all is well. Most of us being members of the ruling party. It is messy. We have lied to Kenyans and failed in the oversight responsibility," Kuria, who has been a member of the budget committee since 2014, disclosed.

He was also quick to fault Treasury for taking expensive loans to avoid accountability associated with borrowing from institutions such as the World Bank.

"They reject loans from World Bank that are at 1 per cent (interest rate) because they have no opportunity for kickbacks. They instead go for those with 9 per cent that have less accountability," he divulged.

The legislator also offered his apologies as a lawmaker after he admitted that the country's economy was not performing well.

These damning revelations, however, resulted in an ensuring debate online with the term 'Moses Kuria' trending on Twitter for the better part of Tuesday afternoon.
