Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua, on Monday, December 16, filed a complaint at Kilimani Police Station decrying threats he claims to have received at an event at State House, Nairobi.
Speaking to the press while at the station, the county boss disclosed that he was threatened by senior government officials most notably National Assembly majority leader Aden Duale and his Senate counterpart Kipchumba Murkomen
He further noted that he received the threats on two different dates; November 25 and another in December.
He added that the leaders accused him of constantly attacking Deputy President William Ruto and his allies, a claim he vehemently refuted.
"I have received a threat on my life that occurred on two different dates. On November 25, while at the State House where I was threatened by Hon. Aden Duale together with Hon. Kipchumba Murkomen who accused me of attacking them.
"When I asked how I attacked them, they told me that they would teach me a lesson for going after Deputy President William Ruto. I was shocked by the allegation since I have never attacked anyone," he stated.
"I only speak the truth about corruption and the state of the nation. I don't drop people's names. I was also shocked when I asked Duale why he was targeting me yet I stood with you at one time in Parliament and he threatened my people in his area," claimed the governor.
He specifically claimed that Duale told him that he had 50,000 members of the Kamba community in Garrisa and that he would teach them a lesson.
On a separate occasion, he claimed that the DP held onto his hand and threatened him that he had "been attacking me very much…I must now crush you…I will crush you.”
This came barely a week since the governor took issue with former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama over claims that he was plotting a political pact between the Wiper party and Deputy President William Ruto.
Mutua maintained that his Maendeleo Chap Chap Party was firmly in support of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga's Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) in association with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
