Host MP Chased Out of Uhuru's Event

Deputy President William Ruto's allies found themselves on the wrong end after they were hurled out of President Uhuru Kenyatta's function in Nyandarua County.

The drama ensued minutes before Kenyatta's event commenced, as police confronted over 10 MCAs allied to Ruto and chased them out of the function in Ol Kalou on January 31.

A journalist at the event informed Kenyans.co.ke that several MCAs were also denied access at Kenyatta's other event at Kinangop on Friday, January 30.

"This was influenced by their open support for Deputy President William Ruto and the Tanga Tanga movement. No information had been issued about whether or not to attend.

"This made MCAs and other leaders at the second event in Ol Kalou who are allied to the DP to leave the meeting even before Uhuru's arrival," he informed.

The Standard also reported the incident, stating that Nyandarua County Assembly Chief Whip Kamau Gathungu was among the legislators confronted at the event.

"We had entered the venue waiting for the president to arrive when we were confronted by four men. They ordered us to leave, saying that we belonged to tanga tanga. We are waiting for further directives here outside," Gathungu remarked.

Ol Kalou MP Ken Mukira was shocked at the decision to chase him out of the event, yet he was the host. MP Njuguna Kiaraho and Nyandarua Women Representative Faith Gitau were also bundled out of the function.

"It is very unfair to me to be chased away and yet I am the host. We are waiting for the governor (Francis Kimemia) to give us directions" Mukira lamented.

Kenyatta was yet to arrive at the event as he was on his way to Rurii Village to issue title deeds before pitching camp in Ol Kalou.

The reports surface at a time when Ruto's allies declared their open support for BBI meetings, clarifying that they had cancelled all parallel rallies. This was after the DP was reportedly reprimanded by Kenyatta at a 5-hour State House meeting on Monday, January 27.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wa on Friday, January 31, stated that the legislators had joined hands to support Kenyatta's project with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

"Today we have released the schedule with eleven planned meetings. Tomorrow, we will be going to the Kitui BBI rally which is organised by the other team while on Saturday, we will be heading to Nakuru for our own organised meeting.

"On Sunday, the other team had announced a rally in Garissa and so we will be headed there as well. On February 14, the other team had not announced any meeting and so we have one in Bungoma while on February 15, we will join them in Meru. On February 21, we will join them in Narok on February 22, we will go to Kirinyaga or Nyandarua. On February 28, we will go to Kericho," Ichung'wa stated.
