4 Officers Arrested for Beating Up Raila's Cousin

Four police officers believed to have assaulted former Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo and his driver at his Milimani home were arrested on Tuesday, February 11.

The officer reportedly got into a scuffle with the former legislator after a disagreement, following which they allegedly battered him alongside his driver.

County Police Commander Ranson Lolmodooni, when speaking to the media stated that the officers were not on official duty at the time of the incident.

The officers are based at Crime Prevention Unit, Regional headquarters communication, Kondele, and Railways police stations.

Initial reports claimed that the officers were after Midiwo's driver over an alleged traffic offense.

They then followed him all the way to the former Gem MP's house leading up to the confrontation.

“The officers are accused of assaulting Midiwo when he tried to intervene to know what the problem was,” Lolmoodoni revealed.

The police boss went on to describe the entire incident as unfortunate, adding that the officers acted in an unprofessional manner and that they would be held accountable.

Following the assault, Midiwo's driver presented himself at the police precinct where he recorded a statement and was issued with a P3 Form.
