Bank Employee Tests Positive for Covid-19

On Saturday, March 28, Diamond Trust Bank announced that one of its staff members had tested positive for Covid-19.

In a press statement signed by the bank's Group Chief Executive Officer, it informed its stakeholders that the suspected Covid-19 case had forced other staff members to go into self-isolation for a period of 14 days.

"To this end, I wish to inform all our stakeholders that last week, one of our Kilifi branch staff was exposed to a suspected Covid-19 case that has now been confirmed positive.

"Following the initial notification, all the affected staff who were in contact with the staff member were directed to go into self-isolation for a period of 14 days," read the statement in part.

The DTB Kilifi branch stated that it had closed down for a period of time with the approval of the regulator - the Central Bank of Kenya.

"The branch was closed and immediate cleaning and disinfection of the premises was undertaken," read an excerpt from the statement.

In addition, the bank stated that it had gotten clearance from the  Kilifi County Health Officials and operations at the bank had resumed.

"Our staff are providing the required assistance to authorities and public health officials in the matter. 

"In line with the guidance from the authorities, we had already implemented the recommended precautionary measures at all our branches and offices," the bank stated.

Further, Devji outlined a number of measures that the bank had taken to ensure that their clients were safe.

"We have installed alcohol-based hand sanitizers at all our premises, provision of thermometers, gloves, safety masks, and the creation of designated isolation areas in case of incidents.

"We continue to encourage customers to use our alternative banking channels and cash management options such as online banking, mobile banking, and ATMs," read the statement.
