Kesses MP Mishra Swarup has been caught on camera appearing to threaten a senior police officer who questioned the legality of a meeting the legislator was chairing.

In the video that surfaced online on Sunday, April 5, Mishra is seen berating Kesses assistant sub-county police commander, Ceilia Kemboi, when he was confronted.

The legislator goes on a tirade against the police officer at some point reminding her that in the wake of Covid-19 in Kenya the police needed to concentrate on prodiving more security as opposed to what he viewed as disrupting his meeting.

"Now, this officer lady is saying that she was not aware of this meeting today. After all, how will we help? This is the time wee need security in my country," he states.

The altercation escalates as a visibly angry Mishra charges towards the officer while threatening to have her transferred before attendees at the meeting hold him back urging him to calm down.

"Tell her to cooperate or we will send a replacement, a good one. Put down the phone. Is that the way we work?

"We will transfer you right now. She has to be transferred. Switch off the phone. Don't bring politics to me. We have all the documentation (for the meeting)," shouted the MP.

Reports indicated that the officer had raised concerns about the meeting in question noting she was not aware of it.

On Friday, March 13, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe, as part of his daily address over Coronavirus pandemic, suspended all public gatherings in the country.

"We have suspended all public gatherings, meetings, religious crusades, games and all events that are of a huge public nature," announced Kagwe.

In observance of the directive, Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) officials cancelled all rallies, as well as a crackdown on churches defying the directive was launched.
