On Sunday, April 12, Kenyans.co.ke reported that Former Tusker Project Fame (TPF) winner and gospel singer Ruth Matete's husband, BelovedJohn Apewajoye, passed away after succumbing to burn injuries sustained after an accidental gas explosion at their home in Athi River.

However, in a video that emerged on Tuesday evening, April 14, a man named Jesse McJessy who claims to be a friend and manager to the deceased alleges that Matete had a hand in the husband's death.

Jesse narrated that the couple had a troubled marriage, adding that the musician was violent towards her husband.

Additionally, he accused Matete of being psychotic, adding that she had previously stabbed her husband at least three times.

"BelovedJohn's marriage was never rosy. Ruth Matete you can tell the whole world the truth. You were very violent, you have stabbed him not once, not twice, not thrice.

"The last time you tried to kill Belovedjohn, I was there in Athi River in Greatwall Gardens. You guys had a fight and you almost killed him," he stated.

According to him, Ruth did not inform Beloved John’s family in Nigeria about the explosion and neither did she give accurate information about her status in the hospital.

Jesse's 17minutes and 41 seconds video has left many confused with Matete being among the top trends on Wednesday morning.

Criminal lawyer Cliff Ombeta has since weighed in on the matter, stating that the information is from unverified sources and is, therefore, not to be believed.

He added that the source of information could be bitter over services that were left unpaid for.

"I have listened to the clip. It is only full of lamentations. All his info is from unverified sources.

"John is seen in the hospital. Therefore was not abandoned.  He was taken to hospital. Ruth rushed for help. The narrator is having beef for unpaid services for work done," Ombeta argued.
