K24  journalist, talk show host and news anchor Anne Kiguta, on Sunday, April 19, threw hard-hitting punches aimed at Deputy President William Ruto, and his 2022 presidential ambitions.

She made it clear from the onset that her view was simply hers, and went ahead to share her version of the naked truth regarding the ongoing Jubilee Party fiasco.

Following a heated video link interview with Uasin Gishu Woman Representative Gladys Boss Shollei and Nyeri Town Member of Parliament Ngunjiri Wambugu, it was clear that the rift within the ruling party was undeniable.

"It remains clear that there is some kind of denial on the part of politicians who are allied to the DP about what is actually happening as the struggle for the party leadership continues,

"The DP's allies continue with this narrative that there's is a struggle for party democracy and values and against outsiders who are trying to take control of Jubilee, but the truth is much simpler," she opined.

Kiguta made it clear that despite DP Ruto's assertion that he was not 'married' to President Uhuru Kenyatta, their partnership was a covenant that promised a 10-year tenure for president Uhuru and the same for his deputy.

"This is politics and that's the game. Like it or not, for better or worse president Uhuru has made his move. Many of the DP's allies have mistakenly thought that they could pressure the president back into the alliance with his deputy," she hypothesised.

Kiguta then laid out what she termed as the two options DP Ruto faces in his bid to ascend to the presidency, one of which was to continue in his fight for the ruling party as Shollei had clearly stated.

"We can’t be kicked out of Jubilee without a fight," she asserted during the interview.

On his part, Wambugu urged the legislator allied to the deputy president to wake up from what he termed as hallucinations.

"If Deputy President William Ruto believes that he controls 70% of elected Jubilee legislators both in the Senate and the National Assembly, he should know that he is hallucinating," he stated.

Kiguta opined that such a fight over the party would leave DP Ruto with nothing but a mere shell that would do him no good.

"The strength of the party is hinged on the partnership between Uhuru and Ruto, not the structures," she opined.

She then went on to serve up option number 2 which she felt was the only way Ruto could come out of the entire saga on the winning side, and this was by accepting that the president was the boss and there could only be one boss at a time.

"He will come to the wise conclusion to let the president be the president. The wisdom to realise that the only way to lead is by at times learning to follow," she stated.

The seasoned journalist then compared the current scenario to the situation faced by former President Daniel Arap Moi, who was humiliated by Mzee Jomo Kenyatta's allies but opted to keep his head down and eventually wound up as the president.
